Description

The garden structures to the north-west of Tawstock Court include terraces, garden walls, summer houses, and a folly, dating from the late 18th century. The stone rubble garden walls surround three sides and feature rubbed brick capping with ball finials at intervals along the east side. There are four ashlar terraces with balustrades, connected by a sweeping flight of stone steps at the top right corner.

In the center of the north side is a summer house with a tent-shaped roof and timber lattice work. A small, squat folly tower is located at the south-east corner, topped with an embattled parapet. This folly has a four-light window at the front above balustrading, with a cambered arch below. The roof of the folly has been removed. There is also a cambered arched gateway on the west side, which is surmounted by lions. Additionally, a hexagonal summer house at the south-west corner features a conical thatched roof, with gothick pointed arched windows flanking double plank doors that have pointed arched glazing bars.
