Description
This is an outbuilding, possibly originally stables, that is now used as a gymnasium for St Michael's School. It dates from the late 16th century and is constructed of narrowly coursed dressed freestone with a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and was formerly two storeys, although the loft has now been removed.
On the inner face, there are two blocked openings with relieving arches. The outer (south) face features a five-light chamfered mullion timber window, with a loft opening to the right that has a chamfered four-centred arched surround and an inserted 20th-century window consisting of nine large panes. There are three window openings on the ground floor and putlog holes present. Additionally, there is a short connecting wall to the gatehouse at the right end, which includes an old door with chamfered rectangular bosses on the panels.
