Description
This building at 91 High Street in Barnstaple is a house that has been converted into a shop. It likely dates from the early 18th century and was remodeled around 1830. The front is solidly rendered, and the roof is not visible from the street. There is a red brick chimney on the right side wall.
The building has three storeys and features a three-window range. The ground storey has a late 20th-century shop front. The upper-storey windows are adorned with moulded architraves, while the second-storey windows have entablatures. The middle window on the second storey is particularly notable, as it features a triangular pediment with Grecian ornamentation in the center and palmettes at the corners. The windows in both storeys have plain sashes. At the top, there is a deeply-coved cornice with a parapet above, which includes a panelled pedestal in its center. The interior has not been inspected.
