Description
This is a pair of gravestones marking the head and foot of the grave of William Causey, located approximately 10 metres southwest of the southwest corner of the west tower of the Church of St Peter. The gravestones date from 1788 and are made of slate with shaped heads. The headstone commemorates William, the son of Robert and Sarah Causey, who died in 1788 at the age of 25. The stone at the foot of the grave features the inscription: "Death with his Dart Did smite my Heart While I was in my prime My friends therefore Your Grief forbear Twas Gods appointed time."
