Description

Bellaire Cottage is an early 18th century house, possibly of earlier origin, situated within a range that includes number 3. The front is finished with roughcast rendering. It has a slated roof that runs continuously with the roof of number 3, and features an old red brick chimney on the party wall. The chimney has projecting brickcourses forming a cap, and another chimney visible behind the ridge has a louvred pot. The cottage is two storeys high but is lower than number 1, which adjoins it on the right.

The front has a two-window range, with a doorway in the extreme right-hand end of the ground storey. The door is panelled, with the two lower panels being flush. A trellised porch with a pointed arch, a slated roof with scalloped bargeboards, and a finial adorn the doorway. The ground-floor windows are flat-headed, with four-pane over eight-pane box-framed sashes. The upper-storey windows are also flat-headed but are narrower with six-paned box-framed sashes, the upper sashes being segmental-headed. A small boxed eaves cornice runs along the top. The interior has not been inspected.
