Description

COLDRIDGE COLDRIDGE SS 60 NE 1/25 Luxton headstone approximately - 12 metres south of south aisle of Church of St Matthew GV II

Headstone. Early C19 in memory of Elizabeth Luxton. Upright square-headed slab standing approximately 0.8 metres high. The front is arranged to produce a nowy- headed plaque with the first word 'Sacred' in ornate Gothic lettering and continued in upper and lower case Roman serif recording the death of Elizabeth Luxton in 1789. The shallow bas-relief frame is enriched with floriate decoration with a Biblical quote around the top. The stone is covered in lichen and is signed but all that can be read is.........of Winkleigh.
