Description

This is a headstone dated 1821, located approximately 3 metres south of the aisle of the Church of St Mary in Belstone. It commemorates Elizabeth Paul and is made of slate. The headstone is a square-headed upright slab, standing about 1.2 metres high. Each top corner features small sunbursts, and the moulded border includes a fret pattern frieze. The inscription begins with the word "sacred" in Gothic capitals, followed by the rest of the text in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, which records the death of Elizabeth Paul in 1821.
