Description
This is a byre with haylofts, likely built in the late 17th to early 18th century. It is constructed of cob on rubble footings, with some parts rebuilt using rubble, and features a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatch. The building has a two-room plan and faces northwest, with the larger part-floored byre located at the left (northeast) end. Each room includes a plank door and hayloft loading hatches directly above. The smaller right-hand hatch is fitted with wooden shutters that have strap hinges. The roof is hipped at both ends. Inside, the byre displays plain carpentry details and a four-bay roof supported by A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed collars. This structure is included for its group value.
