Description

The Vicarage is a vicarage built around 1840. It features plastered rubble construction, with rubble and brick stacks, and a slate roof. The main block is two rooms deep and faces south, designed with a central staircase plan and end stacks. There is a service wing under a parallel roof, offset to the left (west), which has a gable end stack. The building is two storeys high with attics and showcases a Gothick style.

The gable-ended main block has a symmetrical three-window front. The central Gothick door, which has lower pointed arch panels, is flanked by three pointed lancets and is set in an arch-headed doorway that includes a fanlight with a Gothick pattern of glazing bars. A 20th-century gabled porch has been added. The ground floor windows are 20th-century casements, while the first floor retains original pointed arch-headed casements with Gothick glazing bars at the top. There is a similar window on the first floor of the service wing and smaller versions in the left end of the main block leading to the first floor and attic. The ground floor windows are rectangular casements with small rectangular panes of glass. The rear of the building features more pointed arch Gothick windows, including a stair window with margin panes and coloured glass. The eaves are deep all around and supported by pairs of shaped brackets. Inside, some original joinery and plasterwork remain.
