Description
Bridge Cottage is a cottage with origins in the 18th century, which has been renovated and extended in the 20th century. It is constructed of colourwashed rendered cob and stone, with the central block featuring a thatched roof that is gabled at the right end and half-hipped at the left end. The outer blocks have concrete tile roofs, and the main block includes stacks at the left end and along the axis. The layout consists of a single-depth, two-room arrangement, with a former cider house incorporated into the right end of the house and a single-storey block added to the left end in the 20th century. The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front, with the front door located to the left of centre. Most windows are 2-light casements that were reglazed in the late 20th century, except for one 18th-century 2-light casement on the first floor, which has square leaded panes. Inside, there is an exposed cross beam and an open fireplace in the right-hand room, although the interior has been modernised. The cottage has group value with Templeton Bridge and the Nest.
