Description
Bailey is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 16th or 17th century, which has been refurbished to have a 19th-century appearance. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with cob or stone stacks that are topped with 20th-century brick. The roof is covered with 20th-century slate and is hipped at both ends. The building has a layout that appears to consist of three rooms and a through passage, with an inner room located to the east. A massive lateral stack projects from the rear (north) of the hall, and there is a gable stack of cob projecting from the lower end to the left. A single-storey service wing, added in the late 19th century, is located at the front of the inner room on the right. The farmhouse is otherwise two storeys tall. To the left of the service block, there is a three-window front featuring 19th and 20th-century casements, some of which have glazing bars, along with a central door. Early features are concealed behind 19th and 20th-century plasterwork and fittings inside.
