Description

The School House is a house dating to circa 1870-80. It is constructed of squared volcanic stone, laid in courses, with cream brick dressings and chimney shafts, and has a slate roof. The house has a 2-room plan with a central staircase, facing south. It is symmetrical with a gabled front, two windows wide. The central entrance has a plank door. The windows are 2-light casements with glazing bars, having 8 panes per light, with the lower two windows set under almost round segmental arches of cream brick. The slate roof has a low pitch and deep bargeboards decorated with blind trefoil tracery and a pendant at the apex. The building is listed for its group value.
