Description

Holbrook Bridge is a road bridge that spans the Great Western Canal and its towpath. It was built around 1814 and is constructed of English bond brick with sandstone conglomerate ashlar coping. The bridge features a single span with an elliptical, almost round-headed arch. The walls of the bridge have a slight batter and rise to a plain projecting stringcourse at road level. The parapet is topped with rounded coping. At each end, the walls curve outwards to form narrow terminal piers that project externally. This section of the Great Western Canal was opened in 1814.
