Description

Winsor House is a house dating to approximately 1870-1880. It is constructed of plastered rubble with stone rubble stacks topped with 19th-century brick, and has a slate roof. The house is arranged with a double depth plan, facing south, and features a central staircase plan with front and back rooms on either side. A carriageway is located at the left end, with chambers situated above it, all under a single roof.

The main block has a symmetrical three-window front with a central doorway. The front door is six-panelled, with an overlight featuring patterns of glazing bars, panelled reveals, and a doorcase comprising panelled pilasters and scroll consoles supporting a small flat hood with a moulded soffit. Stone steps lead to the door, accompanied by 19th-century cast iron railings with ornate heads. The doorway is flanked by canted bay windows containing single-pane sashes with horns. Above, the windows are tripartite sashes of a similar style, with a narrow single sash in the centre. The sash window above the carriageway has glazing bars. The roof is gabled at each end.

Internally, much of the original joinery and fittings remain. The building is included on the list for its group value.
