Description
This chest tomb, located approximately 3 metres south-east of the Church of St Mary, dates from around 1823 and was created for William Dicker of Haske. It is made of Portland stone and sits on a granite plinth. The tomb has a rectangular shape with a moulded base and a flat lid featuring reeded edges. Each corner has clasping pilasters with sunken panels, and the sides are recessed. The south side of the tomb commemorates William Dicker, while the other sides include memorials to his wife, Elizabeth, who died in 1831, as well as their children and grandchildren. The granite plinth originally had settings for an enclosing iron fence, which has since been removed.
