Description
This building is a linhay, dating from the 18th century and refurbished in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob and rubble with a slate roof. The linhay and carriageway follow the curve of the boundary and face southwest, backing onto the road. It features a 4-bay open-fronted Alcock Type T1 linhay, with a store at the left (southeast) end and a carriageway at the right end, which adjoins Star House. The rubble store has a door with a loading bay above it. Inside, the linhay has tusk-tenoned cross-beams supporting the hayloft, and the front is partly fronted with 20th-century work. The carriageway includes large double doors and a small reused 17th-century studded door with strap hinges featuring fleur de lys terminals. The roof consists of alternating 18th and 19th-century trusses, with A-frames that have peg lap-jointed collars and king posts. The blind rear wall has a strong impact on the townscape. This building is included for its group value.
