Description

The Hitchcock headstone, located approximately 12 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, is likely from the 17th century and commemorates Nicholas Hitchcock. It is made of local grey limestone and features an upright square-headed slab that stands about 600mm high. The front of the headstone is inscribed in plain bold capitals, noting the death of Nicholas Hitchcock, although the date of his death is not visible.
