Description
This is a row of three headstones located approximately 5 meters south of the nave of the Church of St. John the Baptist, dating from the late 17th century. The headstones are made of carved ironstone.
The left headstone is dated 1669 and features a moulded top with a winged head and swag, along with a moulded fielded panel and cable twist shafts. It bears an inscription to Thomas Hitchcocks. The center headstone, dated 1675, has a shaped moulded top with four scrolls and a central roundel. It includes a sunk shield panel surrounded by flowers and foliage in shallow relief, with an inscription to Thomas Dodd. The right headstone, dated 1666, displays an open segmental pediment with a ball finial, and its panel is framed by festoons, with drops along the edges.
