Description

Bitham Hall is a country house dating from the mid-19th century. It is built with imitation ashlar render, incorporating moulded stone string courses and rusticated pilasters, likely of stone construction. The roofs are slate, with a parapet to the central range and deep eaves with a bracket cornice to the wings. The house follows a U-plan and is designed in an Italianate style.

The symmetrical front elevation features a central five-window range with two taller, two-window wings. The central range has banded rusticated angles and pilaster strips to the three central bays, with a recessed entrance featuring glazed double doors and an overlight. French windows are present in the first and fifth bays, and most ground floor windows have moulded wood architraves and louvred shutters. The first floor has round-arched sunk panels flanking the first and fifth bays, and round-arched windows with blind tympana throughout. A moulded parapet is topped with four ball finials. The wings have rusticated angle piers. The interior sides have French windows in the angles, while the return sides largely consist of blank windows. An external rusticated stack is present on the ground floor of the left wing, and this wing's stack has a window with a moulded architrave. Irregular service wings extend to the rear.

The interior of the main house was not inspected. The central range formerly included a loggia, for which stone bases for the supports remain.
