Description
SS 91 NW STOODLEIGH WEST END LANE
9/179 Parish hall and range of - farmbuildings adjoining at south west end GV II
Former estate office, converted to parish hall and adjoining range of farmbuildings, the farmbuildings forming part of the planned farmyard at Ford Barton. Late C19. Stone rubble with slate and asbestos slate roofs. Plan: Long single-storey range, the parish hall at the left end, the rest of the range a farmbuilding including an archway entrance to the planned farmyard. Exterior: Long single storey range with a gabled stone porch at the left end into the former estate office which has three 2-light casements with glazing bars and a rendered C20 lean-to; the range continues as a farmbuilding with a massive arched stone entrance in the centre. The building is blind to the right of the archway with three 2-light and one 1-light window to the left and 1 loft doorway. The rear of the farmbuilding is very altered but the entrance archway, an adjacent tall arched opening and 3 original windows survive. The other openings are C20 enlarged doorways. Interior: not inspected. An impressive range associated with the other buildings of a planned farmyard and Ford House and Barton House, formerly the agent's house of the Stoodleigh Court estate.
