Description
The threshing barn, located immediately east of Ford Barton, dates from the late 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends. The barn is large and rectangular in shape, with two pairs of opposed double threshing doors and a horse engine house positioned centrally on the west side.
On the exterior, the east elevation showcases two substantial threshing doorways with segmental arches and stone cheeks, along with a loft loading door in the center. The west elevation mirrors this with a similar pair of threshing doors, flanking the horse engine house, which has a polygonal end and has been partially re-roofed with corrugated iron. Slit windows are present in the gable ends.
Inside, the barn features conventional 19th-century king post, tie beam, and strut roof trusses. This threshing barn is part of the planned farmyard at Ford Barton and has group value with the other farm buildings, as well as Ford House and Barton House.
