Description
This is a cartshed located approximately 20 metres south of Freathingcott Farmhouse, likely built in the mid-19th century, though it may be older. Constructed from local stone rubble, it features a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatched. The building is low and faces north into the farmyard. The left section has four bays that are open-fronted, separated by circular stone rubble posts that taper slightly from bottom to top. The right section has two bays that are enclosed and includes two full-height doorways. The roof is hipped at both ends. This cartshed, along with other listed farm buildings around the farmyard, creates an exceptionally good group of traditional farm buildings serving nearby Freathingcott Farmhouse. The overall visual impact of the group is enhanced by its location on a steep hillslope.
