Description
No. 6 High Street is a building that likely dates from the mid-18th century, with a shop front that was remodeled in the late 19th century and further altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and has a slate roof with end stacks featuring brick shafts. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall, with a two-window front. The roof is adorned with a moulded cornice, and there is a left end gable stack and a right end stack that has a shaft extending to the front of the ridge. The late 20th century windows are topped with flat gauged brick arches. The shop front features plate-glass windows and consoles supporting the fascia. At the rear, there is a 19th-century three-light casement window. The interior has not been inspected, but the building is included for its group value.
