Description
Nos 2 to 8 Queen Street is a building dating from around 1837. It is a long, four-storey block with three storeys at either end, finished in stucco. The front features rusticated detailing and includes seven three-light sash windows that have glazing bars, cornices, and ornamental features. Nos 2, 6, and 8 still have their original shop fascias, which are supported by brackets and topped with acroteria. Number 2 also displays a lion and unicorn motif and has an iron balcony above its first-floor windows. The parapet is decorated with honeysuckle and scroll ornaments, and at the center, there is a figure of a young Queen Victoria holding a sceptre. Nos 2 to 14 Queen Street form a cohesive group.
