Description
Ide House is an early 19th-century house located on Ide Balls Farm Road. The building is stuccoed and has blocked out features, with rendered end stacks at the front of the ridge and a slate roof behind a parapet. It has a double depth, four-room plan, with two principal front rooms on either side of a central stair and service rooms at the rear. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed single-storey addition at the left end. The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay front, featuring a moulded cornice and parapet. A Tuscan porch with steps leads up to a six-panel front door, which has glazed top panels and a semi-circular fanlight with ornamental glazing bars. The first-floor windows on the left and right are tripartite sashes, with the outer lights having four panes and the central light having twelve panes. The central first-floor window is also a twelve-pane sash. The ground floor windows resemble the outer first-floor windows, but the vertical glazing bars of the central lights are no longer present. Ide House is a distinguished early 19th-century gentleman's residence that stands out from the road.
