Description

Pennsylvania Park, numbers 1 to 6, was built in 1823 and subsequently altered and extended. It is a three-storey stucco terrace situated prominently overlooking the city. Originally comprising six two-window houses, they are linked by single-storey porches adorned with Ionic columns. The houses are set back behind the porches. The buildings have low-pitched slate roofs with wide eaves. The facades feature recessed panels, and the first-floor French windows are complemented by iron balconies with canopies supported on slender columns. Numbers 1 and 6 retain their original shutters. A late 19th-century porch was added to number 3, and other alterations have included the removal of many original window glazing bars. Original railings remain, while the contemporary iron gates at the western end of the private approach road have been removed. Numbers 1 to 6 form a group of buildings of group value.
