Description
Two town houses, situated in a terrace with number 11 operating as a shop at ground floor and number 13 as an office, were constructed around the 1840s. The buildings are of mass wall construction, with painted stucco exterior and brick chimney shafts visible at number 11. They have slate roofs and cast iron rainwater goods.
The houses’ plan is double depth, one room wide, with entrances to the right and axial stacks to the left. Number 11 has a central entrance for the shop. Number 11 is three storeys high, with eaves bands; each house features a two-window front. Number 11 has a 20th-century front door with a wide rectangular overlight and a pediment on consoles, along with a 20th-century shop front to the left. The original entrance is presumably located to the right and leads to the accommodation above. The first floor features hornless sash windows with missing glazing bars, while the second floor has 12-pane hornless sash windows. Number 13 has a 20th-century front door with a deep rectangular overlight and a 12-pane hornless sash window to the left. The first floor has 12-pane hornless sashes, and the second floor features 3/6 pane hornless sash windows.
The interior of number 13 includes a 20th-century internal porch and has not otherwise been inspected.
The buildings form part of a group which includes numbers 5-9.
