Description
The remains of St Catherine's Chapel are located on Catherine Street, adjacent to the Almshouses and part of the same foundation. The chapel appears to have been a small two-storey building, measuring approximately 20 feet by 9 feet. It features two 15th-century windows at the east end, one of which has been restored, along with small square windows in the upper storey. There is a stone font or stoup in a recess on the north side and a bell turret. The chapel was destroyed by fire on May 4, 1942, and the ruins now serve as a War Memorial.
