Description

No. 43 The Strand is a possibly originally 17th or 18th century house that has been significantly altered and expanded in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is a sprawling two and three storey building featuring bays, turrets, and various types of windows. The house has an oriel window on the first floor facing the street and includes a water tank topped with a belvedere. The roofs are covered with slate. This house is said to be the one described by Mrs. J.H. Ewing in her work "Mrs Overtheway's Remembrances." All the listed buildings on The Strand form a cohesive group.
