Description

Bridge Meadow is a house dating from around the early 16th century, originally a hall house. In the 17th century, a floor was inserted, and a western extension was added in the early 19th century. The house is constructed of roughcast stone rubble, with a thatched roof featuring half-hipped and gabled ends and eyebrow eaves. The early 19th-century western end has a slate roof. It has a long, five-window front. Modern casement windows have glazing bars. A plank door, set within a thatched porch, is located off-centre, leading to a cross passage. A rendered central chimney stack and later brick end stacks are present. The interior features jointed cruck trusses and an inserted moulded timber ceiling. The central chimney stack contains an open fireplace with a moulded stone jamb and a moulded timber bressummer. A doorway to the cross passage is situated to the side of the stack, featuring a shouldered arch.
