Description
The south-east terrace, wall, and south-west entrance piers to Pynes in Upton Pyne were built in 1851, likely by the architect Poynter. The stone revetted terrace features walls, border kerbstones, and entrance piers. The terrace extends significantly in front of the house, creating a formal garden to the south-east, which includes flower-beds and rusticated quoins. The angles of the terrace are capped with squat piers topped with pomegranates and urns at intervals. The forecourt entrance is flanked by large stone standing stags on rusticated piers, which may date back to before 1851.
