Description
Pynes Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the River Creedy and was built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick, with granite and Thorverton stone detailing, and features granite supporting columns. The upper part of the bridge consists of three segmental arches made of brick, topped with granite coping along the parapet. The bridge has granite cabled end piers and a Thorverton stone string course at road level that slopes down on either side, forming the coping of the revetments. The arches are skew, with the springing marked by a granite string course on each side. The central supports are made up of two sets of four granite Tuscan columns, with each column separated by a shallow arch that has a cast-iron soffit.
