Description

Parr Cottages is a row of three cottages, likely originally four, built in the mid to late 19th century, possibly in two phases. The cottages are constructed from plastered local stone rubble and brick, with brick or stone rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick, and feature a slate roof. The cottages face southwest and are numbered 1 to 3 from right to left. Due to the lack of internal inspection during the survey, it was not possible to determine the order of construction or the specific layouts of the cottages. Cottage No. 1 seems to combine two former one-room plan cottages with an axial stack between them, while Nos 2 and 3 appear to have always had two-room plans, with an axial stack between their rooms. All three cottages are two storeys high and have service outshots at the rear.

The exterior features an irregular four-window front. The left section, which has four windows, includes segmental arches with sandstone voussoirs and projecting keystones. The casement windows also have segmental arch heads. The doorways of Nos 2 and 3 are side by side in this section and have similar segmental arch heads, although the doors, like the two front doors of No. 2 further right, are from the 20th century and vary in style. The right section contains 19th and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The roof is gable-ended on the right and abuts the adjoining Thorn Cottage on the left. Feniton is a charming village that features a notable group of listed buildings.
