Description
Wesley Chapel is a disused chapel, now serving as an animal house, built in 1850 on or near the site of St Anne's Chapel. It is constructed of local stone and flint rubble, with some limestone ashlar detailing, and features a slate roof. The chapel is a small, gable-ended single cell structure oriented on a north-south axis, with the front facing the main Exeter-London road to the south. The front has a blocked 2-centred arch doorway, which once had a porch in front, and above it is a blocked oculus window. The gable includes a datestone indicating the chapel's construction date of 1850. The left (west) side wall has three tall windows with 2-centred arch heads, originally fitted with timber windows and glazing bars, though much of this has now been lost. The right (east) end and the rear (north) end are both blind, although an opening has been created in the rear for the animals. The interior is plain, featuring a plastered ceiling.
