Description
This building is a cellar located approximately 1 metre south-west of Hitts Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with the south end rebuilt in 19th century brick and a thatch roof. The cellar, which has a loft above, faces east towards the front garden of Hitts Farmhouse. The front wall features only a doorway, positioned close to the right end, which has an old plank door. The right (north) end includes another doorway with a loading hatch above leading to the loft. The left end has a window on each floor, both of which are from the 20th century. The roof is hipped at both ends. Inside, there is plain carpentry detail with roughly-finished crossbeams and a roof supported by A-frame trusses with X-apexes and secondary lap-jointed collars.
