Description

The Willcox headstone, dated 1776, is located approximately 24 metres north-east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary in Aylesbeare. It is a limestone upright slab that stands about 700 mm high and features a shaped head. The headstone has an inscribed line border that transitions into low relief scrolls on either side of a rosette at the top. The inscription, which is in upper and lower case Roman serif lettering, commemorates the death of Humphrey Willcox in 1776. This headstone has been repositioned.
