Description

Ware Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to circa the early 16th century, with alterations in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with a concrete tile roof featuring gabled ends. The house is two storeys and an attic, and originally had a five-window front. It now has modern casement windows. A cross passage is located to the left of centre, leading to a two-storeyed porch with a hipped roof. The porch features a sash window on the first floor with glazing bars, and a heavy panelled inner door. There are two modern wedge-shaped dormers. The house has stone chimney stacks at the ridge and north end, and a brick stack at the south end. A large raking buttress is visible on the west front. An outshut is located at the rear (east) with a catslide roof. Internally, the house features jointed cruck trusses and plank and muntin screens to the cross passage. It also contains heavy chamfered ceiling beams and two fireplaces with chamfered timber bressumers; the centre fireplace has chamfered stone jambs. A room at the south end has a moulded and dentilled plaster cornice.
