Description

Slade Farmhouse is a substantial house dating from 1633, historically associated with the Leigh family. The chimney features the initials L W T and the date 1771, indicating some alterations over time. The building has two storeys and is constructed of Beer stone, with the south front being stuccoed. It has double pitch gable end slate roofs, with the gables adorned with saddlestones and shaped kneelers. The farmhouse also boasts good brick chimneys with stone quoins and caps, along with a moulded stone cornice.

The façade is symmetrically arranged with five windows around a central entrance, and the ground floor is raised on a plinth. The windows are recessed sashes with intact glazing bars, including a Venetian staircase window featuring a keystone. A flight of steps leads up to an altered porch, which has a glazed door with two flush panels.
