Description

This stable is likely from the late 17th or early 18th century and was probably built alongside Godford Farmhouse. It is constructed of hand-made brick in a Flemish bond pattern, set upon a stone plinth, and has a red pantile roof with gabled ends. The building is rectangular and aligned with the north-west wing of the farmhouse. The exterior features a central stable door flanked by windows with segmental arches. A loft door is centrally positioned. The stable's interior has not been inspected. 18th-century brick farmbuildings are uncommon in Devon, and this stable is particularly significant for its contribution to the group value of the farmhouse and its prominent position facing the road through Godford Cross.
