Description

Three farm buildings are located immediately north of Wadhayes Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century, 18th century, and probably the 19th century. The two buildings closest to the farmhouse are constructed of stone rubble; one has a corrugated asbestos roof, while the other features a slate roof. The threshing barn is made of cob on stone rubble footings and has a slate roof that is half-hipped at both ends. The layout is U-shaped, situated directly north of the farmhouse. The southernmost building, dating from the 17th century, serves as a narrow service yard for the farmhouse. An 18th-century cob threshing barn runs parallel to this building and includes opposed threshing doors. These two buildings are connected by a third structure, likely from the 19th century, which is positioned at right angles to the east.

On the exterior, the 17th-century farm building features three doorways on its south side, providing access from the service yard behind the house. The east gable end has a brick-dressed loft doorway with a possibly 19th-century timber door, flanked by two small rectangular loft windows with wooden frames. The threshing barn has a large threshing doorway on the south side, with stone and cob cheeks. The connecting building has a large loft opening in the center.

Inside, the southernmost building boasts a jointed cruck roof construction from the early 17th century, with very high collars mortised into the principals. The threshing barn features an 18th-century 'A' frame roof construction, while the interior of the third building has not been inspected. These farm buildings are important to the immediate setting of the farmhouse, with the southernmost building being particularly notable for its well-preserved 17th-century roof structure, which may relate to a modernization program of the farmhouse in 1621. They form an integral part of the farmhouse complex.
