Description
The Richard Marsden chest tomb, located about 10 metres north of the tower of the Church of St Michael and All Angels, is a late 19th-century chest tomb made of freestone. It features a coped Gothic style with a carved frieze on the chest and a coped lid that has a roll moulding ending in floriated crosses. The inscription commemorates Richard Marsden, with the date of death being partly illegible but appearing to be from the 1860s. This tomb is a notable example of an archaeological chest tomb in the Gothic style.
