Description
The Methodist Church, built in 1897, is a substantial stone building in the Gothic style, located at the junction of Tower Street and High Street. Its spire serves as a landmark in the area. The church is constructed of ashlar stone with sandstone dressings. The tall southeast tower features pilasters at the corners that rise to form tall octagonal pinnacles that support the spire. The west facade includes a large window and double doors set beneath a gabled arch. There are steps leading up to the entrance. On the northwest side, there is a window with two lights, featuring a mullion and transom, and another window at the chamfered corner. Above, a parapet is adorned with quatrefoil panels. The church has transepts with two end windows and an apsidal east end. All windows are designed with tracery and dripstone moulds, and a string course runs around the church just below the windows.
