Description
This boundary wall, dated 1868, is located approximately 4 metres south-west of the White House and adjoins the north-east end of Little Orchard. Constructed from red brick in Flemish bond and rat-trap bond, the wall is tall and runs alongside the lane, separating the front and back gardens of the White House while enclosing the original property. The section closest to the house is lower and features a crest of cast iron railings. It includes central square section gate posts with low pyramid caps, which support original cast iron gates that match the style of the railings. The wall displays the date 1868 in a decorative pattern made of white bricks. On either side of this lower section, the wall rises to a greater height and is divided into bays by square section posts topped with pyramid caps. The bricks used in this wall are larger than usual and are laid on their edges, and it continues to enclose the original garden area, which is now divided between the White House and Little Orchard.
