Description

The house at Higher Seavington Farm is a circa 16th or 17th century farmhouse that was heightened in the 19th century. It is constructed from roughcast stone rubble, with an asbestos slate roof featuring gabled ends. The facade has four window bays, with modern casements including glazing bars. A plain doorway gives access to a cross passage located to the left of the centre. The ridge and end chimney stacks have been rebuilt and rendered. A stone lintel above a rear window is inscribed "Cheese Room R and J B 1816", and was likely originally a doorway to the loft. A lean-to extension is located at the lower (west) end of the house. Inside, a fireplace has a stopped-chamfered bressumer and ceiling beam. A doorway at the rear of the cross passage features a large timber sliding bolt.
