Description
Woodbury House is a detached house built in 1781 for Philip Lempriere, who was the Attorney General of Jersey from 1758 to 1769. The house is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and features a gabled-end slate roof with heavy coping on the gables. It has a double-depth plan, with the main rooms located on either side of a central stair hall, secondary rooms at the rear, and two rear service ends. The house is two storeys high.
The front of the house is symmetrical with a three-window range and a parapet. All the windows are tripartite hornless sash windows with a 4:12:4 pane configuration, except for the central first-floor window, which has a single 12-pane horned sash. The central doorway is framed by a moulded architrave and has a canopy supported by console brackets. The door itself is a quarter glazed fielded panel door topped with a traceried rectangular fanlight. There are three full dormers, each containing two lights.
On the right-hand end of the house, there is a rainwater head dated 'P.L. 1781'. The two lower rear wings are both two storeys high, with the right wing featuring a 4:6:4 pane tripartite sash window, a 12-pane sash window, and two casement windows. The other wing has some later casement windows, with an axial stack on the former and an end stack on the latter wing.
