Description
The lychgate and adjoining churchyard wall to the south of the parish church in Clyst St George date from 1867. The lychgate features coursed rubble sandstone walls and a gabled-end slate roof. The surrounding wall is mainly constructed of random rubble limestone with sandstone coping. Each wall of the lychgate has a row of six small square-headed openings. It includes open, cusped, wavy bargeboarding, and the roof is supported by three trusses with chamfered arched braces and collars. The wall-plate has end brackets and is topped with crested ridge tiles. There are wrought iron double gates at the entrance.
