Description
This mile post, located north of North Lodge, dates from around 1880 and was designed by Sir Ernest George and T Vaughan. It takes the form of a squat ashlar pier that is square in shape, topped with a pyramidal cap and finial, and features a flower in the frieze below the cap. Distances to nearby towns are inscribed on the sides in Arts and Crafts lettering. The mile post stands on a square base. On the south side, there is a granite tablet that serves as a First World War memorial.
