Description
Lower Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century and early 18th century, with additions from the 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a heightened thatched roof with gabled ends. The lower south-west end, which was probably once a byre, has a hipped thatched roof and is now part of the house. A late 19th-century addition at the north-east end has a shingle roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, along with two and one bay additions. It has two and three light casements with glazing bars, and a central panelled door that is sheltered by a modern gabled porch. There is a brick ridge chimney stack that is off centre, as well as another stack at the north-east gable end. Inside, there is a heavy chamfered fireplace bressummer in the south-west end.
