Description

Castle Hill House is a late 18th-century stone house. The front is rendered and features rusticated quoins and a modillion eaves cornice. The steeply pitched roof is covered in Welsh slate with stone-coped gable ends. The house is two storeys and has an attic. There are three bays across the front. It has tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, including a central first-floor Venetian window. The ground floor features semi-circular bays, and a central Doric doorcase with fluted columns, an entablature, a segmental fanlight, a small pediment, and a moulded architrave. There are three dormers, the central one having a round top light with intersecting glazing bars.

The left-hand (north-west) end of the house has a two-storey segmental bay window. A contemporary wing extends to the rear and incorporates a segmental bay window.

Inside, a contemporary open-well staircase has stick balusters and a curved handrail ramped up to column newels. The stairwell ceiling is fitted with a modillion cornice and a frieze with consoles.
