Description

Jannocks is a villa located in Salcombe Regis, originally built around 1840 and enlarged in the mid-19th century. The original house is two storeys tall, faced with stucco and featuring flanking incised panelled pilaster strips. It has a low-pitched hipped slate roof with overhanging bracketed eaves and a fretted valance. The front has two windows; the first floor has recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars and Venetian shutters. The ground floor features later canted bay windows with moulded cornices. There is a side porch that is enclosed and stuccoed, with quarter pilasters, a cornice, and a blocking course.

To the left of the porch is a circa 1860 extension that is two storeys tall, weatherboarded, with a gable-end slate roof and fretted bargeboards. This extension has two moulded framed sashes on the first floor, one on the ground floor, and a French window. Additionally, there is a stuccoed extension dating from around 1850 on the east side of the original house. This two-storey gabled block connects to a lower two-storey stable block via a single-storey link. The main gable has bargeboards similar to the eaves valance of the original house. The taller part of the extension has a pointed attic casement, two sashes with intact glazing bars on the first floor, and a central French window on the ground floor. There is also a pointed door in the link section and in the stable block. The overall design presents a picturesque outline and grouping of units.
